COL Melissa J. Hoffman

Colonel Melissa J. Hoffman graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.  She earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing from George Mason University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, Carlisle, PA.  She is a Board Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health and Medical Surgical Nursing. 

Colonel Hoffman’s military education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic Course, AMEDD Officer Advanced Course, Faculty Development Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, AMEDD Executive Skills Course, and the Army War College. 

Colonel Hoffman’s previous assignments include Clinical Staff Nurse, General Surgery, Urology/Opthalmology and Assistant Head Nurse, Organ Transplant Unit, Walter Reed Army Medical Center; Head Nurse, Primary Care Division, Kirk US Army Health Clinic, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; ROTC Nurse Counselor, 5th BDE, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Evening/Night Supervisor and Performance Improvement Coordinator, 121 General Hospital, Yongson, Korea; Head Nurse, General Medicine Unit and Deputy Director 68WM6 Program, Walter Reed Army Medical Center; Chief Nurse, California Medical Detachment, Presidio of Monterey, California; Assistant Deputy Commander for Nursing, MEDDAC Alaska, Fairbanks, AK; Chief Nurse, 21st Combat Support Hospital, Fort Hood, Texas; Chief Nurse 21st Combat Support Hospital Forward deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve; Chief Nursing Officer Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, and most recently Deputy Chief, Army Nurse Corps. She is currently serving as the Commander for Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Benning, Georgia. 

Colonel Hoffman’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (8OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (2 campaign stars), and the Korea Defense Medal.  She is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
